Apple has long been an innovator in the technology field with a rabid fan base that stays hungry for the latest product releases. Their Apple MacBook Air MC968LL/A 11.6-Inch Laptop they have lived up to their reputation just as expected. While the older model Macbooks were exceptional products, Apple has improved even more on this model, making one of the best laptops out there on the market today. Leave it to Apple to stay on the cutting edge of technology and computing. The big question is…is the Apple Macbook the right machine for you?
Pros
Thin and stylish like an Italian supercar
Perhaps one of the greatest things about Macbooks in general is the styling. These things look great, are lightweight (2.38 pounds with it’s adapter), thin and as stylish as a new Ferrari. We all know that we like tech gadgets that look as good as they perform and Apple never disappoints with it’s glossy white finish and signature Apple logo on the front.
Powerful
But the new Macbook isn’t just all pizazz with no guts to back it up. It boats Intel’s Core 5i dual core process with 3MB L3 shared cache. It has a brilliant 11.6 inch screen with 1366×768 resolution and comes equipped with 2GB of DDR RAM (upgradable to 4GB). It’s also one of the few computers out there that has 64GB of flash memory installed which makes starting up quicker than almost anything else on the market.
Awesome backlit keyboard
If the Apple MacBook Air MC968LL/A 11.6-Inch Laptop speed and flash memory give it a huge advantage over typical drives for starting up and waking up…oh yeah, and did I mention that this thing LOOKS great? specs don’t impress you that much, there’s plenty more that will. It’s full sized, backlit keyboard allows you to easily work in dark environments. There’s also a built in Face Time camera for video chatting, two USB ports, a Thunderbolt port and Intel HD graphics. The lithium ion battery allows for up to five hours of wireless productivity and up to 30 days of standby time on a single charge.
iCloud
The features are wrapped up by Apple’s proprietary iCloud technology which has been lauded as working more easily and faster then either Googe or Amazon’s cloud services. It also comes stocked with Apples OS X Lion, which is a vast improvement over their previous operating system.
Cons
Pricey
As with everything, there are cons in as well and while Apple does a great job of creating a mostly superior product, they’re very proud of them. How proud? Well this is one of their base models for laptops and it’s price starts at $999.00. Compare that with being able to buy a top of the line PC notebook for around the same price, or just a little more and it’s easy to see how you might want to steer clear of this one.
Connectivity..less
Additionally, Apple seems to want to stay away from optical drives. DVD drives still serve a good purpose in the technology world. Even thought they’re being phased out to some degree, Apple is really pushing them out at a rate that some believe is more quickly than need be. The Macbook only has two USB ports, where many other PC models have three or four. There is no SD card slot making reading camera memory and other standards difficult.
Add all of those up and throw in the fact that for the fashion conscious, you can’t choose any other color than grey and you’ve got some people that are grumbling about some of the design decisions that Apple’s made with this model.
Who Should Buy It
Apple remains at the top when it comes to graphic design and music, so those who are in those fields or students who are studying them will get the most benefit from this Apple. It’s the perfect size for a student that has to carry it around campus, or a telecommuter who likes to work at the local coffee shop.
Why Should You Buy It
Even with the flaws that it has, Apple does make a superior product that typically lasts longer than most other notebook computers. Apple MacBook Air MC968LL/A 11.6-Inch Laptop speed and flash memory give it a huge advantage over typical drives for starting up and waking up…oh yeah, and did I mention that this thing LOOKS great?
